FUNDS FOR THE WORK.

Opioid Settlement Funds

In 2023, funds are available for the first time specifically for South Carolina to remedy the harm caused by the false claims of opioid manufacturers to support proven ways to address the situation.

This is money that pharmaceutical companies have agreed to pay to states, a portion of which must be used to remedy harms caused by the false advertising of opioids as non-addictive. That means these funds can and should be used to fund programs that reverse opioid overdoses and otherwise support people who use drugs to be healthy.
